Nachdem die Kirche in der Planungsphase unter Denkmalschutz gestellt wurde, war das erste Konzept hinfällig. Es galt, eine dem Denkmalschutz entsprechende Lösung zu finden: Der in den 80er-Jahren hinzugefügte Zwischenbau zwischen dem Kirchturm und dem eigentlichen Kirchenraum wurde abgerissen. Der Turm ist nun wieder freigestellt und in seiner ursprünglichen Form erlebbar. Der vorhandene Kirchenraum blieb bestehen. Er wurde baulich kaum verändert, jedoch wurden die Kirchenbänke entfernt. Die Kirche ist jetzt frei bestuhlt und kann so besser für große Veranstaltungen genutzt werden. Um den Platzbedarf für die neuen Gemeinderäume und die Kita zu decken, wurde ein zweigeschossiger Riegel an die Kirche angebaut. Mit dieser Anordnung ist ein räumlich ansprechender Kirchenvorplatz entstanden. Die Gemeinderäume fanden ihren Platz im Erdgeschoss des neuen Gebäudeteils. Sie werden direkt vom Kirchenvorplatz erschlossen.
