Durch das in Richtung Motorworld aufstrebende ‚Flugdach‘ wird sowohl der städtebaulichen Situation (‚Vermittlung‘ zwischen den unterschiedlichen Dimensionen der Gebäude) als auch der Symbolik des historischen Ortes (‚Startendes Flugzeug‘ oder Symbol für einen Flugzeugflügel) Rechnung getragen. Der neue Gebäudeteil bietet Platz für unterschiedliche Nutzungen wie Ausstellung zur Historie, Restaurant und Konferenzen sowie Events – außerdem eine moderne Infrastruktur. Der Entwurf hat zum Ziel, das historische Empfangsgebäude des ehemaligen Flugplatzes Böblingen durch eine behutsame Restaurierung und die zeitgemäße und ’spannende‘ Ergänzung durch ein neues Gebäude wieder zum lohnenden Ziel für alle Flugenthusiasten zu machen.
