Das Nutzungskonzept für die ‚Villa Duttenhofer’ basiert auf dem ‚Stiftungsgedanken’ ihres Erbauers Max von Duttenhofer aus dem Jahr 1918, der eine museale Nutzung vorsah. Neben einer gastronomischen Nutzung im EG und UG der Villa und einem Dienstleister im 1. und 2. OG werden öffentlich zugängliche Ausstellungsflächen mit angegliederten Konferenzräumen in einem Neubau geschaffen. Die Dokumentation, die sich durch verschiedene Bereiche des Neubaus erstreckt, soll der Bedeutung der herausragenden Unternehmerpersönlichkeit Max von Duttenhofers gerecht werden. Architektonisches Konzept Durch einen schlanken, gläsernen, elegant über der Parklandschaft schwebenden Baukörper wird der historischen Villa ein neues Element in zeitgemäßer Formensprache hinzugesellt. Durch eine sowohl in Kubatur als auch Details zurückhaltende, filigrane und transparente Bauweise ordnet sich der Neubau dem Solitär der Villa unter. Die Ausstellungsbereiche sind bereits von außen erkennbar und wecken so die Neugierde des Besuchers. Die Zugänge und Foyers werden in das Ausstellungskonzept miteinbezogen. Somit erlebt der Besucher sowohl vom Eingang Königstraße (Fußgänger/Bushaltestelle)als auch vom neuen Eingang Ost (Parkplätze) über das luftige, zweigeschossige Foyer bereits beim Betreten des Hauses die historische Bedeutung des Ortes. Durch die neue Erschließungszone zwischen Alt- und Neubau werden die Zugänge der beiden Geschossebenen EG und E -1 an zentraler Stelle zusammengefasst. Der Besucher kann sich so gut orientieren und erreicht alle Bereiche des Gebäudeensembles auf kurzen (barrierefreien) Wegen. Die vorhandene Topographie ermöglicht hangseitig nach Osten, ein weiteres Gartengeschoss, welches zur Hälfte in das Gelände geschoben ist. Diese Ebene bietet Platz für weitere Konferenz- und Gasträume sowie eine moderne Infrastruktur.
