Da es im Bereich des Sanierungsgebietes Weststadt II liegt, soll das Gebäude umgebaut und energetisch saniert werden. Der Bestand wird um ein zusätzliches Geschoss und um Balkone sowie Loggien erweitert. Im Zuge dieser Sanierungsmaßnahmen soll auf dem Nachbargrundstück ein neues Wohngebäude gebaut werden. Dieses fällt wesentlich niedriger aus als der Bestand. Unter dem Neubau ist eine Tiefgarage geplant. „Wilhelm“ ist ein Gemeinschaftsprojekt der Baubetreuung Lange GmbH und EXTERNI Wohn- und Gewerbebau GmbH & Co.KG. Hierfür wurde extra die Projektgesellschaft Externi & Lange Projekt GbR gegründet.
